SAVVY farmers are being encouraged to enter their energy efficient on-farm projects in the National Energy Efficiency Awards.
The new Best Agricultural Energy Efficiency Project Award, launched by the Queensland Farmers' Federation in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Council, celebrates the innovation taking place on Australian farms.
QFF chief executive officer Georgina Davis said on farm energy efficiency projects allowed farmers to realise energy savings and productivity improvements while reducing their carbon footprint.
"With significant energy savings available from irrigation pump and lighting replacements, hot water system and air conditioning upgrades, and the implementation of renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic and bioenergy, farmers continue to embrace innovative energy use and management," Dr Davis said.
"Australian farmers are demonstrating leadership and catalysing change in energy efficiency by implementing new technologies, reducing energy use and delivering energy savings are encouraged to apply."
The winners of the National Energy Efficiency Awards 2020 will be named at in Melbourne on May 26.
